The longing………

window-dreamer

This longing is for my Mother, who is geographically distanced but emotionally connected. Missing her crazy in my lonesomeness.

Magical night and a majestic moon,

The stars arrayed to scintillate soon.

My stark soul, awaits a glimpse of you;

And aching heart hopes the spirits, renew.

Like the oceans binding the waves, agile;

My eyes behold your sunshine smile.

When bouts of pain, my eyes betray to confine;

To your allaying grace, I taciturnly entwine.

Doomed are my lips, for I cannot kiss your feet;

Sanctified are my dreams, in which you e’er meet.

Although the fondness of your breath is poles apart;

Its fragrance steeped in my soul, can ne’er depart.

Come up, my dearest mother, in placid paces,

And lodge in my dark voids and light up all spaces.

Ensure, the night will not pull round for long;

So hush me down quickly, with your soulful song.

Short-winded, I am, for the divine love of you;

The altruistic and purest, so undying and so true.

Breathe softly in me, your fervid and eonian love;

Nourish with tenderness, this petite seed, you sow.

              Oh sweetie…moms are so sweet that none can escape from this eternal addiction. I was never away from my mother….but today I am countries away from her for the very very first time in life. I am not home-sick but definitely a mother-sick. You make me smile but you make me cry too by reminding the missing and longing.

              But still….smiling. Having a smile that hides thousands of tears.
              Take care and stay blessed. 🙂

    Awwwww, how far are you from your mom? I also am very far from my mom. I have to pay around $1,500 and two to three airplanes to be able to see mine. Only every 2 years or so do I ever get the opportunity. It’s beautiful how you’ve written this heart-felt poem to her.

      Thank you Staci, for the concern. I stay in London and my mom is in India. So you can imagine………..I have no other family than her. Lost my father 11 yrs ago. This is for the first time I am away from my mom. Just feel like crying every day. And hope to meet her every night in my dreams.

      So sad to hear about your path leading to your mom. It is always painful to live away from a mother……………such powerful is her love. I dont know what is in that healing touch………….that makes a dying spirit come alive. May you meet your lovely mother very soon and very often. Prayers Assured!

  8. This is a beautiful and heartfelt poem, Reva. What a wonderful gift that you and your mother are close in spirit. Not all daughters feel loved and cherished by their mothers. Bask in this love. If my 14 yr old daughter always believes that I love her as deeply as I do, then I’ll know I mothered well.

  9. Wow! I LOVE how heartfelt this is, truly, a gem of a poem. The line – “When bouts of pain, my eyes betray to confine” struck me, i cannot imagine how lonely you must be feeling in a foreign land and now a new place. I feel sorry yet good that this absolutely brilliant poem came out as a result of it.
    I hope aunty gets to read this. She’ll be SO proud and will shed a tear for sure, you know mothers. :’)
    Well, your virtual mom – ME! – is always here, if you ever want to talk about anything from pani puri to the Queen. 😀
    Hope you’re feeling better today and if not then drown yourself in caffeine. -wow, what kind of a mother am i- ahahahaah sorry. CHEER UP, R! ❤

      Thank you my dearest. So glad I am to read your lovely appreciation and wonderful thoughts. “Bouts of pain in the eyes”——– the hardest and saddest part it was. I was unable to write any other line after that.. Took a long breather after that. Just could not complete then. There was that one moment when I felt like flying back to her and live my divine moments in her arms. No way……………I never let such emotions in front of her. She would die knowing my pain here. Some lump of emotions in my voice and she starts crying hearing the change in voice. Life has given so many cruel blows but she stood for me. I owe her more than my life. More than her, I am proud to be her part. Shed a tear? nope………….she would flow oceans as she always did for me.
      Yes, I would definitely count on my virtual mamma whenever I am low spirited or want to share my high spirits. You know. My VM is LIGHT, she can fill up my dark spaces. Thank you VM for being my VM and I am indebted. I know previously, I shared about my panipuri story with you……………..and till date I donno the reason why. All I know is you are my good one.

      Love you. Reva. 🙂

      • Such regards for your mother, I’m proud of you, R. I read about your father in your reply to Staci’s comment so I can imagine how brave your mother must be and how much reverence you hold for all that she has done for you. Respect for you and aunty.

        Aww, love my new name – VM! 😀 😀
        It’s good to not have reasons, R! And I am glad I was a part of it! ❤

    A poem for the generation. We humans interpret things according to our own experiences and adventures. Your words above, for a your mother, resonate within me in areas only I can feel and understand. Working and living for this brand, you pressed vibrations and dispositions that cater to my fondness of this world we all share. HOT HAM AND CHEESE, your poem is the bees knees. Thank you kind spirit for sharing this with the world.

    You are awesome.

      Words would die hollow if I express the heartfelt feeling you have given to me, through them. I just cannot justify it verbally. I’m just bowing to the garnered honor in gratitude.

      Thank you from the honest core of my heart. I am glad to learn that it resonated within you. Thank you so much for taking part in my longing. Cheese is okay but Ham is not okay…………I’m a strict vegetarian. 🙂 Stay Blessed!

        Well over 5 months now, (maybe more) I have been a vegetarian myself, so I am with you on the no meat campaign, the “hot ham and cheese” quote is a substitute for a figure of speech, as well as a rhyming factor for that saying.

        I am slowly meshing to your words and emotions day by day… you have a gifted way of tampering with words and their emotions of the human spirit – just look at your fan base. I am merely one of many, but a sincere fan in my own eye. I thank you for what you do, I really mean this. You are extremely talented, and your way with verbal / lyrical roles of our human condition is out of this world.

        You make our world a better place through emotions and love.

          Though I am a warrior of words, I am casting off my verbal weapons on the battlefield of modesty. So vast is your ocean of generosity that I am all drowned just at the shores of it.
          Your appreciation is immensely treasured. I’m kneeling down defencelessly in all the humbleness for all the encouragement you have given me. Quality of feelings out rides the quantity of feelings……………and you are one of those who has uplifted me with quality boosting. I do not go up with mere fan base……………I soar high with top-drawer quality fan base. I am basically an emotional being and emotions sweep me off easily …………..be it smiles or tears. But that is the bond which connects us strongly.

          My Sincere Gratitude. Stay wonderful. Reva. 🙂

            Reva, you are awesome. The compliments are over flourished with sincere gratitude to you and your words. Yes, you are an emotional being, in a positive light, and I feel that vibration from you. As that is why I am here, now, to express such happiness and joy to your site and poetry. The smiles and tears are tricky for me to decipher due to different humans ways of processing emotion, but you are brilliant with your expressions –

            ” Doomed are my lips, for I cannot kiss your feet;

            Sanctified are my dreams, in which you e’er meet.

            Although the fondness of your breath is poles apart;

            Its fragrance steeped in my soul, can ne’er depart.”

            WHATTTTTT????? This is what I am saying. I may be interpreting your words in the weirdest way, but your style rocks my soul. I cannot let it go.

              Aww…………..no words daring out. I understand tears and smiles are the tricky things and all of us have our unique ways to ventilate those. Some hide….some express……………..some just live in them. I am harboring a fond feeling reading that the emotional style is rocking your soul. All I can say is may your soul rock always to the rhythm of peace.

              Bestest Wishes! 🙂
