Swings of Innocence

magic4walls

Lovesome leaf was I, swaying frail and green;

Came an unhoped thief and robbed my sheen.

Life was gentle, nerveless and just plain;

Bore no baggage of hassles, to stock in vain.

Swanned I, in the slow sun struck woods;

Wool-gathered I, in the subdued moony beds.

Was beguiled by the beaming petite fireflies;

Trailing butterflies, whooped I happy cries.

Flipped a pebble to commove the sleeping pond;

Ramped up castles of sand on the shores, so fond.

Diddled with my fluid shadow in the day light;

Numbered the winking stars on the slate of night.

Clock flew the coop fast and the world said “Grow up”;

Slyness moused in and doors of whiteness shut up.

Lessons of growing up are cautiously trusted;

And swings of innocence are rakishly………. betrayed.

    Oh my, yes we can’t stay swinging on the swing forever, my friend. Sooner or later we grow up. Unfortunately, the innocence and cruel realities of this world takes a toll on each and every one of us. As you know, I am a Christian, and there’s a Bible passage that talks about having the faith of a child. Like becoming like a child is what enables one to see the Kingdom of Heaven. Speaking of child-like. I’ve been really desiring to explore my creative side with paints and drawing and photography and all. I don’t know a think about it all, but today I went and printed off some adult coloring pages (that kids could do too), and will be coloring with my daughter a bit this weekend.
    Hope you’re doing well Reva.
    Love and hugs.

      Thank you Staci for sharing your good thoughts. Yes, Swings of innocence are not meant for ever. I Know growing up is a trap. They we are cloaked in unreal adulthood, the inner child is always there inside….and childlike innocence, reasoning, curiosity, looking out for wonder is the proof.

      I am happy that you got the coloring pages printed. It is so much fun to paint. I love painting and sketching. So much freedom to make your thoughts bring alive on canvas. Its like a miracle. You think something in mind and it manifests on canvas in front of you. This is what we expect all our life, right? You think, you get….because you believe in yourself that you can paint that. Ahhh …. i just love this feeling.

      Thank you, Sweetie…………..I am all good and hope you too are having a jolly time with your family.
      Stay Beautiful!
      Love you.

    Aw this is a beautiful love note to childhood and the innocence that went away with it. This reads so heartfelt and I love the symbolism used in it.
    “Numbered the winking stars on the slate of night.” this would be my absolute favourite line, you’re so brilliant with analogies and this is one excellent examples among many!
    Thanks for sharing this gift of a poem. ❤
    Love and hugs for you, R!

      You are flooding me with all the generous appreciation, Light. I skipped a part of my childhood phase so was reliving it to completeness. I was surprised to see the quoted line, structured so well. Fibonacci effect is still heavy on your head, I guess. Your fondness of “numbered” line says it all, dear.

      Thank you very much for the perpetual support and love.
      Hugs to you. Shine Bright! 🙂

        Aw, hahaha maybe it’s the fondness or it is the loveliness of your presentation, whatever the case is, I love that line. I love the word – ‘stars’ – it is so…out there for everyone from children to adults, it’s there for everyone. And you glorified the word with your poetic skills. 🙂
        You’re very welcome. -Hugs-

          As smart as ever! Cleverly erased the subtle line dividing loveliness and fondness. Should learn all these tricks from you. Hope you do not mind teaching me.

          I love stargazing. Used to label each star in my childhood. I do it even now but cannot stand for much time outside here. Gazing from open window is a strict no no. Rightly said…stars are for every one and their sheen for every loony soul.

          Tight and warm Hugs! 🙂

                  First lesson: Leg Pulling (For example, refer comments by psychopathsgetbored2)

                  You are mortifying me, D!. I am not that great with my English. It is so daunting to retrieve words. Even if you get the word correct…..the meaning would doom you. Even if you succeed this phase….using it aptly is the trickiest part. Anyway….if not other phase…..you would definitely sail through the last one (tricky one).

                    And, I am not pulling your leg! I could never – ’cause I am short and I won’t want people to get taller. Ehehe, I kid!

                    But, you’re so good with using the correct words! You really are! I do take down a few words when I read your poetry – it is always so interesting. And don’t you say otherwise! You really have a brilliant vocab, it’s so good I get to learn so much from you. ❤

                      I am splitting in laughter here reading the short shady thing. I am struggling typing this. How tall are you…..i mean how SHORT are you?
                      Taking down words without lending me a notice? You have to shell for the penalty. 🙂 Dint I say you are clever..you already started taking free notes without being admitted into the class.

                      Oh my…I am very short. I barely made it to 162 cms so that’d be something near five feet three inches. XD

                      I am closer to hell, you see…so there you have the answer to why I am so shady and mean! AHAHAHAHA

                      I am pinching your right arm. Lets celebrate and pull each other’s legs and get taller. I am 5.3 too. He He Ho Ho 🙂

                      As per what you said, even I am closer to hell but running towards heaven. Hoping , I would make it to 5.5 running this strong. I guess, by now, you must have clued vividly that we are sailing in the same boat meant for midgets.

                      Wow….so wonderful it would be to awake at that inconceivable height, Light. I always wanted to be taller like my dad. No No…. not again…..some or the other way… my mind makes me run the same reel again and again. I am OKAY.
                      We cannot grow any taller but we can compress others. We will do leg compressing instead of leg pulling. 🙂

    We always compare our adulthood to childhood and always wish to go back as those were the days when we were close to angles. We see life and emotions in their most basic and beautiful form, we love unconditionally our sleep is pure mind is filled with so much hope and so many questions. Never let the child die in you. Beautiful poem, brought back so many memories 🙂

      Yes…..childhood is just untainted. No pride and no prejudice. Life is just enjoyed raw. The only responsibility was to be curious each moment. Everything seemed so wonderful then. We are so busy now that we do not have time to live. We are no less than machines…….sometimes.
      Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Stay Blessed!

      Thank you so much, Emily. The clouds of growing up rained so heavily on the tender leaves of childhood that they are all wet and stifled….shivering…..longing for little warmth of childhood days. The song is just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing the link. The inner child is always trapped knocking at heart to come loose and fly free.

      Love to you. Reva.
