The Sanctum of Solitude.

littlehouseonthe valley

Sullen clouds of ego have tardily beetled off and gone;

Egressed I humble, for savoring the unnamed divine.

Respiring mildly I, ecstasy, in the name of air so bare;

Conceived not I, ever so, life would be a howling affair.

Inebriated me amply, your bewitching fragrance;

Stupefied me staggeringly, your amaranthine brilliance.

Croaked I wholly for myself and subsisted purely for you;

Such unequaled sapidity of oneness, I nursed no clue.

Swallowed I, the span between love and beloved;

While cantillating reliably, your nectarine name aloud.

Oh my, benignant! Let me pulsate in your passion;

And let me get erred ceaselessly like curls in the ocean.

Accord me a mercy to commingle in your existence;

Do not keep me hankering for the hallowed substance.

Proffer me death from the unrelenting affray outside;

Sanctify my rebirth in the perfect  sanctum of solitude inside.

  1. Your words in all your poetry that I have read so far come to life off the pages. What a gift. This was brilliant.

    The words you use little difficult for me.ok i will tell you what i understood from this poem.You are saying a prayer to the almighty for all the blessings he has given you and to live a life without pride,ego etc. correct?
    I think you have good knowledge in everything.you did surprise me with the knowledge you have of the places in my state.May be people like you from outside india coming and visting kerala make it god’s own country.But you also should know that we can make everything beautiful in videos.Old kerala i think has changed so much 😀

      You got the poem right, partly. It is more of longing to become one with the Divine. Praying Him to give me death from the outside noise and bless em re-birth in the calmness, inside. Pleading Him to take me under His grace.
      Agree..old kerala is surprisingly not the same. But even new Kerala is worth visiting. I have been to Banasura Dam,Edakkal caves,Meenkutti waterfalls, Kozhikode Beach (I am not sure whether i got the names correct). It was a week vacation thee in Kerala. We had a homestay there. We wanted to taste the authentic cuisine but my bad that even fish is considered as part of vegetarian food there. But luckily, we got a homestay where only vegetarian food was served. I had puttu, appam, sambhar…and other dishes. I do not remember the names though.

        so your pseudonym somewhat resonates in this poem right?Thanks for connecting the dots.i know it takes time to trust others right?Riva it just that i am someone who believes even the dna or color or skin or language differs we all came from god.That is it.Any way i just got a feeling you have some ancestral roots in india or you are partly indian.otherwise i don’t think a person staying in london can like india this much.

          Exactly! I love being eternal with HIM. Yes, our paths may be different but all leads tot eh same ONE. I am not partly…. I am wholly Indian. It is just that I stay in London. I basically hail from Mumbai. Then my parents and I got settled there in Hyderabad.
          I love all the beautiful places on EARTH. I do not have an inclination towards any particular place. I love water……….I feel myself completed rested near rivers, ponds, lakes, beaches. That is the reason I love Kerala. I feel very close to nature there. I waited for almost 10 years to see it in real.

          Your Hindi is just perfect. This is surprising me. Generally, I observed that Keralites have a hard time speaking Hindi. I could not get the complete meaning of the Malayalam version. From my understanding: It is nice to meet you or something on being friends.
          Like I am very happy to meet you. (Nalla- very, vyekthiyanu-person?, parijayapettethil- meet, santhosham- happy) I am not sure though.

              No No. I am not that bad at understanding. I used to watch regional filsm in Mumbai. Though not a movie freak. Taht how I understand, bengali, malayalam, gujarati, tamil and telugu. CErtain words are same in most. of the languages.
              Though a game of changing syllable. See nalla is same in tamil. PArichay/ parichayam/parijayam (hindi/telugu/ marathi/malyalam remotely.

              Santhosham (same as in sanskrit, tamil, telugu and malayalam.

              I do have mallu friends. MAnasalayi ( understood / understand?????)
              Recently My friend here in London made me watch one malayalam movie How old are you? I understood the movie well

                If i remember the movie correctly, the question that girl asked was who decides the expiry date of a women’s dream right?
                London has to be one of the beautiful places on earth.so it is like when we stay in a different country the other country seem more beautiful.you know what riva there are people here who think if you only know to speak malayalam not english it is a bad thing.our mother comes first right?I am so glad you understand and respect various languages.
                Aaj itna hi mere bare me me zarror batunga ab nahi kis aur din.
                god bless and to be frank talking to some one like this even through blog is a great relief for me.Thank you so much and do watch malayalam songs i post ok.

                  Yes that is the only question which made me watch that movie. My friend knew exactly what I like so she forced me to watch. I have no regrets watching that. Mother tongue is a beautiful one, it is the first language on the tongue calling Amma/maa/mom. I love languages but before learning other languages, I wanted to know my country’s languages. Hence, I started learning different regional languages. So amazing it is to talk to people in their native language. I love it.

                  I will try to watch them. It is my pleasure. Log kehte rahenge but iska matlab ye nahi ki hame sunthe rehna chahiye. Kabhi apni awwaz ko bhi bhuland karna chaiye.
                  Take care.

    Wow, that sounds like how I feel when I’m able to be still and know that the divine is God. I read something once in my daily devotional, “I am intertwined in an intimacy involving every fibre of my being.” I even did a post on this once. I remember your saying that you wanted me to let you know about other posts of mine that speak on this type of thing. Sooooo, if you would like to read it, you can find it here:

    Wow – this is wonderful, R. The title speaks it all – Sanctum of silence – we all need that every once in a while to speak to our true selves which becomes tough in real life situations. I loved reading it and I am re-reading it now as it has such a calming effect.
    Brilliant work, my friend. As always. 🙂
    Hope you’re feeling better today. I am sorry if my words, from yesterday, triggered some buried memories. That was never my intention. And, you know that.
    Love from Light.

      Thank you, sweetie! I was starving fro some inner peace and I know it is not outside me. Was just penning down all the words that bring calm to me. Stringing all those words, I constructed this one. I read the poem aloud for nearly seven times…..ensuring each read is layering peace.

      I am not carrying yesterday’s thing. It is gone. This solitude is the proof. No worries and sorry, dear. I know you have no ill intentions towards me. You were there with me when I needed you. I am thankful and happy for that.

      Love and Hugs! 🙂
